2019 Schonburger
Wine Making

Fruit was whole bunch pressed then the juice was returned to soak on skins for 4 hours to extract more tannin and build greater texture in the wine.  Fruit was subsequently pressed to a stainless steel tank, cold settled and inoculated with the yeast Alchemy, which enhances the floral aromatics of the fruit.  Some natural sugars were retained to give the wine balance. Lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.

My partner and I travelled to Launceston for Festivale where we ‘discovered’ Barringwood wines, and in particular the Barringwood Shonburger, which we proceeded to enjoy over two nights and three days of the festival. The wine is well balanced with no over sweetness, making it a delectable choice for day time drinking. Hints of floral intrigue on the nose overlay a solid foundation of Structure similar to a dry Riesling, with adequate acid and steely notes. We can’t wait to return to Launceston to reminisce. Thank you Barringwood.
